Melksham Advanced Motorists
Observer Training
Melksham Advanced Motorists is on the lookout for new Observers and current
Observers who want to go on to become Senior Observers.
This is an exhilarating challenge to hone in your
advanced skills even further and pass that skill on to
new Associates. Please contact our Chief Observer
through the
Contacts page for further information.
Training Plan:
Our Chief Observer, David Major, formulates a plan each
year and all current and prospective Observers
and Senior Observers are invited to a session at
The Bell on the Common, Broughton Gifford, Melksham,
SN12 8LX.
Please come along to see how you can develop your skills
further and pass your skills on to others - you do not
have to be an Observer, or have committed to becoming an
Observer. The date for
this year is to be confirmed, but it will be in July
2012 at 7:30pm.
If you would like to attend please register your interest by contacting
David Major. If you are not familiar with the Bell's
location, contact David. The Agenda for the evening
normally follows this format:
-
Introduction and Welcome by David Major
-
Introductions by Melksham Observers and the new
Trainee Group Observer candidates
-
Explanation of the training syllabus by David Major
-
Distribution of associated Training Aids (books,
stationary etc.)
-
Discussions about the Road Craft manual
-
Q&A from the floor, especially any issues that
should be raised concerning the role and
responsibilities of a Group Observer
-
Our Associate Coordinator, Angela Summers, will then
present how Associate Coordination works, the
procedures, and associated paperwork
-
A 10 minute "diary session" will then take place to
set the dates for training this season
-
Following the Trainee Group Observer briefing, David
will discuss Senior Observer training
-
Any other business
Please contact David for further information if you have
an interest in Observer training.
DriveCheck
Once per year
we offer a DriveCheck evening for all members where
members go out on an observed run with one of our
Observers. This is an opportunity to check that
you have not fallen into bad habits since passing your
test. The evening is very informal but gives you a
chance to hone your skills further and ask any questions
you may have. Please check the
Events
page for the date of the next DriveCheck evening.
